Biography

Abdirahman Yusuf (b.1994), is an independent photographer, based in Mogadishu, Somalia. He uses photography as a means to document the world around him and to
inspire a positive image of his country, in times wheremost media paints a negative view of his country. Abdirahman makes portraiture and street-photography that call attention to the details and motions of everyday life, which most people often overlook.
A focus, which he believes “keeps us in the present and stops us from fretting about the
future or regretting the past”

Abdirahman's choice of subject comes from a place of intuition and he's usually drawn to faces and places with stories. He photographs people in their environments because he's curious of what lays behind their eyes, where they have been and where they hope to go.
